About Pacific Reader
Two friends, two surfer girls, two writers…
Brenda and Taryn got together one sunny day and decided to start a weblog of their own. “What should it be about?” they thought. Well, what they love! It should be about Hawaii, travel, food, island life and activities, news, updates, and WHATEVER!
Pacific Reader was born October 2009 on a beautiful afternoon hanging out on Brenda’s lanai.
About Brenda: Having grown up in Honolulu most of her life, Brenda considers herself a real island girl. She calls herself a freelance travel writer and writing instructor, but she’s really just a surfer chick who loves to travel and adores her pug Iris. She keeps a personal travel blog called SurfEatSleep. Brenda’s independent spirit has taken her around the globe to remote places like Colombia, China, Croatia, Myanmar, and Vanuatu (just to name a few).
About Taryn: Taryn was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but was raised in the mainland with her mother in Austin, Texas. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin she moved back to the islands in 2002. Taryn now calls Kahalu’u home living with her boyfriend and their two beagles. Island life is what brought Taryn back to Hawaii after 13 years. She is an avid surfer and prides herself as a strong water-woman. In her leisure Taryn also enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and hiking the island trails with her dogs. Taryn currently works in real estate and has been doing part-time freelance writing for the past 4 years.
