About 10 years ago, my friend Corinne told me about Honey Girl bathing suits that her friend Louisa a body boarder friend of hers made. She said they were cute suits that didn’t come off when you surf. I bought my first Honey Girl bathing suit shortly after that and have been wearing Honey Girl bathing suits ever since.
A cute, flattering, feminine cut suit that stays on when you surf? If you are a surfer, body boarder, paddler, swimmer, or even beach volleyball player you know this is almost impossible to find.
Creator and owner of Honey Girl Water Wear is local girl Louisa Ngum who grew up on a boat in Waikiki and in 1997 she started her bathing suit line. She had always dreamt of a bathing suit that would stay on in the surf with her goal to “make beautiful, most functional, and best quality swimwear for all female-kind.” Over the years she has perfected her fabrics, cuts, styles, and even expanded into children’s swimwear and cover-ups.
I cannot tell you in words how much I love Honey Girl bathing suits! I guess a ten year following and over 10+ suits is a little bit of a clue, but really these suits are the real deal. I’ve been through the medley of Roxy, Billabong, Victoria Secret, Rasins, Oneil, etc. bathing suits all to be disappointed.
Don’t get me wrong, these brands can make a cute suit, but laying on the beach is pretty much all those brand suits are good for. For active water women like myself we require something more substantial. Honey Girl suits use tough fabrics and they can be adjusted to tighten up before you paddle out.
Surfer girls all know we need tight fitting suits when manuevering through the surf. If not, we can be caught mooning and flashing our fellow surfers. These suits also last through wear after wear. Some of my suits have lasted for years and years even after going to the beach 3-4 times a week.

thanks for the comment! best bet is to wait until mon-fri and speak with someone to guide you thru the sizes. it depends how you like to wear you’re suits and your portions, and the girls at Honey Girl are awesome and will be able to get you the best size, if not you can always return it and switch it out. best to wait to get someone on the phone…or you could email them!
