Going on almost three weeks of sheltering in place at our north shore house it’s been a roller coaster of emotions. Some days I’m grateful to be here and healthy, and other times I’m heartbroken by the news and sadden by our new isolated life. I watched Oprah on IG the other day, and she reminded me to think about all “the things I take for granted” or rather “took” now because I am without them.
My heart aches for those who are ill and fighting for their lives. My hope is that one day we will have our “freedoms” back and life as we know if will go back to “normal.” Here are some of the things I take for granted…
- Hugs.
- Seeing my parents whenever I wanted to.
- Cruz’s teachers.
- Taking a trip.
- Playgrounds.
- Laying on the beach.
In my lifetime I never thought something like this could ever happen, and our lives could be turned upside down in an instant. This is another constant reminder to not take any day, hour, person, instance for granted. I am grateful for my level headed husband, my goofy son, my carefree puppy, and the ability to still be able to surf. I am also grateful for all the positive people out there who are doing their best to give back like streaming yoga online, giving words of encouragement to co-workers, or even volunteering their time to help the elderly.
What have you taken for granted? And what are you grateful for?
