If you want the best mix of big city life all packed into a small area with a huge splash of culture (biggest museums, beautiful duomos, huge piazzas, etc.) Florence is your best bet.  The shopping here is unreal reminiscent of NYC and right next door are hundred year old statues.  Here are all our photos from Florence.  Oh yeah and the food isn’t too shabby either!
