On Monday the 27th, 2012 in the morning, we packed two backpacks and headed off to Positano on the moto. The main road we were going on forked, and I thought we needed to go left and Steve thought we needed to go right. Since Steve was driving of course we went right and ended up taking the long scenic route.
The drive down took us about an hour (on the way back it took only about 35 minutes taking the straight route), but it was totally worth the long way because we got to see the gorgeous coastline.
One thing I didn’t prepare myself for was how steep the cliffs were! It was like driving around Makapuu lighthouse times 100! I felt like a tiny ant on a mountain of cliffs and ocean below. I was definetly squealing and holding on for dear life around the steep turns! Steve was in heaven always trying to push my limits.
Positano was pretty much my #1 place that I had ever wanted to visit in my life. After watching Under the Tuscan Sun and too many Discovery Channel shows on Amalfi Coast I have been dreaming of this little town. Even though Positano is now pretty touristy, this town is still pretty amazing.
The main road into Positano is a one way narrow street with no parking on the roads. Parking is either outside the town or in an expensive parking garage. We parked our moto in a garage nearby and looked for our B&B La Tavolozza Residence.
This B&B was the real deal and at 90€ a night we were pleasantly surprised. The place was family run by a female staff that hardly spoke English, but ran a tight ship and was extremely friendly. The accomodations were simple, but ridiculously clean, with a/c, and huge terrace overlooking Italian paradise.
