I am a chip fanatic and am on the constant lookout for that next best chip. I am casting my vote for my new favorite chips, CrispRoot a cassava root chip. I found CrispRoot at Whole Foods in Portland several months ago and was immediately intoxicated by this light, super crunchy, and very addictive snack. These chips are 30% less fat and double the fiber of regular chips, plus they are gluten free.
I also found my favorite bagged tortilla chips Have’a Corn Chips at Whole Foods so when I returned from my Portland trip to get another bag of CrispRoot I found out that Hawaii Whole Foods didn’t have them!
I searched around for CrispRoot chips and found that they were only two stores on Oahu that sold these chips: Kale’s Natural Foods in Hawaii Kai and Kokua Market on King Street. Just when I thought my chip addiction couldn’t get any worst I found myself driving 45 minutes to either of the stores with two things in mind: to buy CrispRoot chips and to eat them.
I mainly wrote this blog to release some of the guilt of feeling like a drug addict looking for my next handful of crunchy chips or maybe to see if there are any other CrispRoot fanatics out there?
Are there others out there who are driving around the island for these close to $5 bag of chips (for 5 ounces mind you!) and coming home and eating the entire bag in one sitting? If you haven’t had a CrispRoot chip you may want to consider NOT buying a bag, just saying.
