Cinnamon’s Restaurant in Kailua has been around since 1985 serving wholesome breakfast and lunch. I finally made it their after hearing over and over again that their RED VELVET PANCAKES were to die for.
My first trip to Cinnamon’s was a pleasant one. I wasn’t too impressed with the old fashioned decor and old furniture in the dining area, but the extremely perky and friendly waitress made up for it. My mom and I ordered a Veggie Eggs Benedict ($12.25) and an order of 2 Red Velvet Pancakes ($6.25) to share.
We were very hungry for our late breakfast and didn’t have any trouble finishing both plates. The Veggie Benedict was an average tasting dish and a little on the pricey side for the amount of food on the plate. The dish wasn’t much to brag about, and the hash browns were on the dry side. I probably wouldn’t order that dish again.
However, the main event: moist, fluffy, delicious Red Velvet Pancakes covered in frosting did not disappoint! I do love red velvet cake, and these pancakes are basically a really good red velvet cake in the form of a short stack. I now understand what the hype was all about and will definitely be returning for another stack.
